Dear all,

As the scheduled start date of the practical in Split is approaching just to provide you with some basic information in relation to it.

The main theme of the first practical part of the programme, to be held in Split from 6th -13th of June, is going to be mainly about Methodology and basic training principles of coaching youth categories (e,g. for the next year practical part of the programme we are predominately going to address a training process of already fully developed high class TT players).

So, the first practical part of the programme is mainly going to deal with methodology of both technical-tactical training and long-term development/conditioning of physical abilities of youth players through planned and organised training process.

Of course, as this is a practical part of the programme it is expected from you to bring with you your sports equipment, which beside your standard table tennis equipment (a racket, indoor sports shoes, etc.) should include some basic sports equipment for conditioning workouts as well (e.g outdoor running shoes). In any case, you don’t have to be worried as we don’t intend to make you a candidates for an army special forces , but you’ll participate in some physical training activities as well, of course all within the boundaries you’ll feel comfortable to be in and in accordance with your age and level of physical abilities. I would also recommend you to bring your swimming suits with you, as for one of the days we plan to have an excursion to nearby islands, and as the sea should be warm enough for swimming at that part of year, all of you interested in those kinds of activities and want to enjoy in beautiful, clean blue sea, don’t forget to carry you swimming costumes with you.

For some parts of table tennis practical part of the programme I’ve also engaged two well-known coaching names, Mr. Richard Prause, Sports director Of German TT association and the Head coach of Werner Schlager Academy and prof. Neven Cegnar, ETTU Development manager and for more than 15 years coach of Tamara Boroš (former World number 2) and Croatian national woman team. They both enthusiastically agreed to help this new study programme, which started last year under the patronage of ITTF and ETTU, by providing our students with their vast professional knowledge and coaching experience.

Beside the above mentioned coaches some of the professors who have already lectured on the programme or will be in charge of some course you’ll encounter in the later stages of the programme (prof. Miran Kondrič - ITTF SSMC chairman, prof. Damir Sekulić, myself and maybe some others) will provide you with some lectures from a different areas related to the main theme of this first practical part of the programme.

Probably I’ll meet some of you during the WTTC in Dusseldorf and the rest of you in Split. I am looking forward to it.

Manny greetings to all.
